Who am I?

At my core, I am a Roman Catholic striving—often imperfectly—to live the universal call to holiness through my vocation as a husband and father of five. Everything else in my life flows from that, and everything else is secondary.

For sixteen years, I had the great gift of serving in parish-based pastoral ministry, most of that time as a music director, helping lead God’s people in prayer through song. I also spent several years accompanying youth and young adults as they sought to discern God’s voice and their place in the Church. I remain deeply grateful that the Lord invited me into that work and allowed me to witness faith taking root in so many lives.

Today, I serve as the on-air host of Roadmap to Heaven on Covenant Network Catholic Radio. Each morning, I try to help listeners orient their day—and their lives—toward Christ. I do so with a simple hope: to become a saint someday, while being honest about the fact that the road there is rarely straight and never tidy.

In 2024, my life was changed by a diagnosis of stage four neuroendocrine cancer. Since then, I’ve come to see this journey not as a detour from my faith, but as a walk with our Lord on the Way of the Cross. It is difficult at times. It is rarely convenient. And yet—by God’s grace—it has been profoundly beautiful.

My family and I have witnessed God at work in ways we never could have imagined: through the quiet fruit that comes from uniting suffering to Jesus, through the tenderness of friends and family, and through the Church responding with mercy, prayer, and love. Again and again, God has shown Himself faithful in the small, sustaining ways that often go unnoticed.

This Substack is a place for weekly reflections on those small graces.

Here, I write honestly about faith lived in the ordinary and the painful: about prayer when it feels dry, hope when outcomes are uncertain, gratitude in an unfinished story, and the quiet ways God meets us when nothing dramatic seems to happen. My hope is not to offer polished answers, but companionship—walking together toward holiness, one faithful step at a time.

If these reflections help you pray, notice God’s presence, or carry your own cross with a little more trust, you are most welcome here. And please know of my prayers for you, wherever you are on the journey.
